Tash personally hand-selects each pearl that is incorporated into her designs. Her partnership with a reputable pearl supplier of over a decade enables me to source only the finest pearls, imported straight from the crystal-clear lagoons of French Polynesia. With a direct link to farmers in Tahiti, we are able to secure exceptional quality pearls at equitable prices, ensuring satisfaction for all of our adored clientele.
It is important to understand that even though the pearls used are exceptionally clean, there may still be slight variations and imperfections present. Please keep in mind that perfect pearls command a hefty price tag. However, we are committed to keeping our prices affordable for our esteemed customers, and for that reason, we only use high-quality perfectly "imperfect" pearls. No two pearls are the same. These unique features are what make pearls truly exceptional, and we never compromise on quality.
Tahitian Pearls:
Tahitian pearls, also known as black pearls, are a type of saltwater cultured pearl that are produced by the black-lipped oyster species Pinctada margaritifera, which is native to the lagoons of French Polynesia, including Tahiti. Tahitian pearls are known for their distinctive dark colors, which can range from metallic silver to deep black, and often feature overtones of green, blue, or purple.
Unlike other types of pearls that are valued for their perfectly round shape, Tahitian pearls are often prized for their unique shapes and sizes, which can be baroque or asymmetrical. They are also known for their high luster and iridescence, which is caused by the reflection of light off the layers of nacre that form the pearl.
Tahitian pearls are typically larger than other types of pearls, with average sizes ranging from 8-16mm in diameter, although larger specimens can reach sizes of up to 20mm (extremely rare. 13-14mm pearls are dubbed “bombucha pearls”. The most valuable Tahitian pearls are those with a deep, uniform color and a strong luster, as well as a smooth and unblemished surface.
Tahitian pearls are often used in high-end jewelry designs, and their unique and striking appearance make them a popular choice for statement pieces. Because of their rarity and high value, Tahitian pearls are often considered a symbol of luxury and sophistication.
Tahitian Keshi Pearls:
Tahitian Keshi pearls are a type of cultured pearl that are grown in the black-lipped oyster species Pinctada margaritifera, which is native to the lagoons of French Polynesia, including Tahiti. Keshi pearls are unique in that they are composed entirely of nacre, the same substance that forms the outer layer of a pearl. They are formed when a mollusk rejects the implanted nucleus during the culturing process, leading to the growth of a pearl without a defined shape.
Tahitian Keshi pearls are highly valued for their natural colors and luster, which can range from metallic silver to deep black, and often feature iridescent overtones of green, blue, or purple. Because they are formed without a nucleus, they can be irregular in shape, with a range of unique and organic forms that make each pearl one-of-a-kind.
Keshi pearls are often used in jewelry designs to create a natural and organic feel, and their unique shapes and colors can add interest and depth to a piece. While they are often smaller in size than traditional round pearls, Tahitian Keshi pearls can be just as valuable due to their rarity and unique characteristics.
Tahitian Pistachio Pearls:
Pistachio Tahitian pearls are a rare and highly sought-after type of Tahitian pearl that has a distinctive greenish-gold color resembling the shade of pistachio nuts. Like all Tahitian pearls, they are produced by the black-lipped oyster Pinctada margaritifera, which is native to the lagoons of French Polynesia, including Tahiti.
The pistachio color is caused by the presence of a natural yellow-green pigment called porphyrin in the oyster's mantle tissue, which is then transferred to the developing pearl. The exact shade of pistachio can vary depending on the intensity of the pigment, as well as the lighting and background against which the pearl is viewed.
Pistachio Tahitian pearls are considered to be among the rarest and most valuable of all Tahitian pearls due to their unique coloration. They are often used in high-end jewelry designs and can command premium prices at auction. Their rarity and distinctive appearance make them a highly prized addition to any pearl collection.
Edison Pearls:
The breakthrough in pearl farming - the Edison Pearl! The process for producing pink Edison pearls involves inserting a small piece of tissue from a donor mussel into the mantle tissue of a host mussel. This triggers the host mussel to produce a pearl sac, which then grows around the tissue and forms a pearl. The pearls are typically left to grow for 2-3 years before they are harvested. These pearls offer high-end saltwater pearl quality, luster, colors, size, and affordability.
Unlike traditional freshwater pearls that are typically nucleated by tissue, Edison cultured pearls are nucleated with beads, the same process used for saltwater pearls. This unique process allows for larger-sized pearls to grow inside the shell, producing pearls in larger sizes and a wide range of natural colors with amazing luster. It's important to note that only one pearl is cultured in each mussel used in creating Edison Pearls, which means that the pearls are carefully grown to ensure their quality and uniqueness.
South Sea Pearls:
Let me tell you about the breathtaking beauty of South Sea pearls. These pearls are the epitome of elegance, radiating a natural beauty that is unparalleled in the world of pearls. South Sea pearls are grown in the warm waters of the South Pacific, specifically in the waters off the coasts of Australia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Their large size and unique luster are a result of the oysters that produce them, which are among the largest pearl-producing oysters in the world.
What sets South Sea pearls apart is their incredible range of colors. From shimmering white and soft cream to rich gold, each pearl is unique and captivating. The pearls also feature a satin-like finish, adding to their exquisite beauty. Wearing a piece of jewelry adorned with South Sea pearls is a true statement of luxury and sophistication. Their rarity and natural beauty make them highly sought after by collectors and connoisseurs alike. As a jeweler, I consider South Sea pearls to be a true treasure of the sea, and I am always honored to create jewelry pieces that showcase their unique beauty.
None of the pearls used in our jewelry have been treated in any way. We believe in offering high-quality products to our customers and are committed to both quality and affordability.
